Back in 2020 I was working as a scientist in the life sciences industry. Whilst carrying out experiments in the lab, I realised how much plastic waste I was producing every single day.
I was not the only scientist generating huge amounts of plastic waste – I soon understood that this was an industry wide problem.
RecycleLab was then born, with a mission to disrupt the current clinical waste management industry by providing a sustainable solution for single-use plastic waste in the science and healthcare industry.
By recycling single-use plastic waste and creating a circular economy, these industries can have a huge positive impact on the climate issues we face, conserving finite resources and reducing its carbon footprint.
Sustainability is at the heart of what we do. We are passionate about protecting and preserving the world we live in, for today and future generations. We strive for sustainable practices. We are not perfect, but small changes can have a huge impact. As we grow, we aim to become a fully sustainable business.
We promise to always be honest and transparent in our processes and the effects these have on the planet. Honesty and integrity is important to us, enabling us to build strong relationships with our clients and suppliers.
By daring to be different, we are pioneering greener and more sustainable clinical waste management processes in the science and healthcare industry. We want to show companies both the possibilities and ease of implementing sustainable waste disposal practices.
RecycleLab was founded in 2021 by a passionate biochemist who wants to change the culture of waste within the science and healthcare industry.
RecycleLab started its very first pilot project in August 2022, focussing on the collection of decontaminated waste from science labs. We are proud to say we are part of the Kings20 Business Accelerator programme 2022/23.
We made some exciting strides forward with our business in 2023, securing an exciting partnership with a laboratory consumale distributor in the UK to significantly increase the number of science labs we can service.
RecycleLab will be commencing an exciting pilot project in 2024, testing a new more 'environmentally friendly' sterilisation machine for plastic waste, paving the way to being able to collect contaminated plastic waste from science labs, signficantly reducing both the burden on our customers and carbon footprint currently associated wiht our services.
